‘Major Priority’ – Miami Aims To Be The Crypto Capital Of The World

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez talks about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in an interview with Bloomberg published on Tuesday. The mayor is lobbying lawmakers to allow government employees to pay taxes in cryptocurrency in addition to allowing them to pay in bitcoin and invest a portion of the money in BTC for the city. They were asked what a priority crypto initiative was for them.

Mayor Suarez replied:

This is a major priority for me because I want us to differentiate ourselves as the crypto capital of the United States or the world.

“We’ve actually done three things,” he shared. “One is that we are going to request a proposal in October to allow our employees to pay in bitcoin, allow our residents to pay fees in bitcoin, and even That taxes in bitcoin even if the county allows it.”

Regarding the state allowing the city to have bitcoin on its balance sheet, he said: “Of course, if we are able to keep it at the moment when I put the resolution on my agenda, it will go up to 30%. . Or 40%, so would have looked like a genius at the time. But that’s the way it works.”

Mayer, a bitcoin supporter, defended BTC in an interview with Fox Business on Tuesday. JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon said he was asked to comment on whether bitcoin is worthless. “I personally think bitcoin is worthless,” the boss of the global investment bank said on Monday.

“It certainly isn’t worthless,” Suarez replied, noting that bitcoin is currently priced at around $55,000.
