Epic welcomes blockchain games but doesn’t expect any Fortnite NFTs

Gaming platforms are choosing to favor blockchain, cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in their respective ecosystems.

After reports of Valve banning crypto and NFT-related games on Steam, its primary competitor, the Epic Games Store, showed a welcoming attitude towards blockchain developers and the use of crypto in video games.

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said That the Epic Games Store will enable games using blockchain technology as long as the developers comply with relevant laws and disclose their terms. Games need to be age-rated by an appropriate group, Sweeney wrote, adding:

“While Epic is not using crypto in our games, we welcome innovation in technology and finance.”

Sweeney told The Verge that when it comes to the use of NFTs in video games, Epic as a platform provider is willing to work with early developers in the area under certain limitations. However, they have previously made it clear that Epic Games does not have plans as a game developer. Use NFTs in their products like Fortnite.

The CEO clarified that Epic will not support cryptocurrency transactions through its payment service, so developers need to use another payment system. The Epic Games Store also has no plans Integrated Blockchain in your client anytime soon.

The Epic Games Store, developed by the major video game publisher Epic Games, is a platform for buying and downloading video games. Launched in 2018, the platform enables users to purchase a digital version of a video game via a desktop client and then store it in a library that can be downloaded and played whenever they want.

game Dev Claimed That “Steam’s view is that goods have value and they do not allow goods that can have real-world value on the platform.”
