In the first phase of IPL 2021, David Warner was removed from the captaincy and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson was given the command of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Now that the team’s journey in the 14th season is over, David Warner has finally broken his silence on the whole matter.
The star batsman of Australia on Tuesday claimed that the Sunrisers Hyderabad management did not give any reason to remove him from the captaincy of this IPL season. Sunrisers’ performance did not improve despite the change of captain and the team remained at the bottom of the IPL points table.
Warner was not even given a place in the team in the last few matches. “With all due respect to the team owners, Trevor Bayliss, Laxman, Moody and Murali, I would say that any decision is unanimous,” Warner told India Today. What was also disappointing for me was that I was not even told why I was dropped from the captaincy.
Warner said that, ‘It is difficult to take a decision on the basis of form because past performance should not be ignored especially when you have played 100 matches for the team. I think four out of the first five matches in Chennai were poor. I have a few questions, but it seems that the answer will never be found. We have to move forward.
Warner said that he would like to continue playing for Sunrisers, but it is not in his hands. He said, ‘I enjoyed playing for Sunrisers. I hope to come back. In the jersey of Sunrisers or any other team, I don’t know.
