Players will be bid in Chennai for the next season of the Indian Premier League, the world’s largest T20 league. A total of 292 players will be bid.
Out of this, 164 players will be Indians, while 125 are foreign cricketers. Apart from this, three players from associate countries will also join the auction.
The eight franchises have a total of 61 slots, with the highest number of Royal Challengers Bangalore captained by Virat Kohli having 11 slots. RCB has a purse of Rs 35.4 crore while Sunrisers Hyderabad has only three slots with a purse of 10.75 crore.
Last year it was being discussed that two new teams could be added in the IPL 2021 season but after that came Corona and the plan had to be postponed for a year. So there will be 8 teams in this year’s IPL. The players will be auctioned for this season on Thursday. This auction is going to be very small, so big teams will add few players to their team.
The Mumbai Indians, who often pay large prices, have a total budget of Rs 15.35 crore. Delhi Capitals, which reached the final last year, has Rs 13.50 crore. Chennai Super Kings, captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has Rs 19.90 crore. From this you can guess that these big teams will stay away from the traditional way of auction.
