Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly has said that organizing an Indo-Pak match in India is a very difficult task. Ganguly said that the biggest reason behind this is the demand for tickets. He feels that in such a situation it is relatively easier to get matches in UAE.
India and Pakistan are starting their campaign on Sunday. In the fourth match of Super 12, both the teams will face each other. This match will be played in Dubai.
This will be the first time that Virat Kohli is leading the Indian team in the T20 World Cup. Along with this, Kohli will also try to win his maiden ICC title. The Indian captain has already announced that he will step down from the captaincy of this format after this World Cup.
Ganguly said, ‘This is not the first time that India-Pakistan are starting with a mutual match in the World Cup. India’s first match in 2015 was against Pakistan. Perhaps this was not the case in 2019, the Champions Trophy began with a match against Pakistan. After that we played the final at the Oval.
He said in Aaj Tak’s program Salaam Cricket, ‘It keeps happening because people are very interested in this match. Organizing them is not difficult. When I used to play, I never felt that it was a difficult match.
Ganguly said, ‘It is more difficult to organize an India Pakistan match in India. People keep asking for tickets continuously. People’s perspective about this match is different. This is not the case here in UAE.
