Pacer Ishant Sharma had finger surgery, injured during WTC final

Indian pacer Ishant Sharma has undergone surgery on his right hand finger. His bowling finger was bled during the World Test Championship final. With stitches, he is expected to be fit ahead of the five-match Test series against England. The veteran pacer sustained a finger injury while trying to stop a drive off his own ball. He was hurriedly taken out of the field.

A senior BCCI official said, “Ishant has got several stitches in the middle and fourth finger of his right hand. Although the injury is not too serious. The next day the stitches will open in 10 days. There are currently six weeks left in the Test series against England.

The Indian team has left for London from Southampton on Thursday.
