Shark Tank Star Kevin O’Leary Expects ‘Trillion Dollars’ Flowing Into Bitcoin – Markets and Prices Bitcoin News

Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary, aka Mr. Wonderful, expects another “trillion dollar” to add to bitcoin over the next few years. He also observed that cryptocurrencies are becoming an institutional asset class. “We don’t know when, but it’s definitely going to come. It’s not going away,” he said.

Kevin O’Leary Sees Trillion-Dollar Opportunity in Bitcoin

Kevin O’Leary talks about bitcoin and the cryptocurrency in an interview on CNBC’s Capital Connection published Monday.

“I am bullish on crypto,” O’Leary began, adding that he is also bullish on decentralized finance (DeFi). Referring to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) pushing back against Coinbase’s Lend product, he said: “This is a downturn that is actually emerging as a very interesting place to be.” Mr. Wonderful emphasized:

We want regulators to really make some decisions about crypto, because none of us who are into financial services really want to be cowboys about this. I don’t want to get involved in crypto if the regulator says it’s not okay.

“I can’t afford to be off-side. I can’t afford not to comply,” he continued.

Referring to bitcoin in particular, the Shark Tank star said: “If regulators eventually allow financial services companies to call it an asset, put it in an ETF. [exchange-traded fund] In the United States, as they have in Canada and other countries, I think there will be another trillion dollars worth of purchases in bitcoin. And we don’t have that yet, but this is the opportunity.”

Mr. Wonderful Detailed:

I think at the end of the day, that will happen in the next few years. That’s why there’s so much interest.

At the current BTC price, bitcoin has a market cap of $850.20 billion, based on data from Bitcoin.com Markets.

O’Leary said all institutional investors want to know “when and how” regulators will favor crypto and when they will consider cryptocurrencies an “institutional asset class.” He added: “We don’t know when, but it’s definitely going to come. It’s not going away.”
