Iyer, the second opener, however, maintained his good form. He made many good shots in his natural style and took the score to 48 runs till the powerplay. Iyer’s every shot was lively, then Tripathi too soon became aggressive according to the team’s strategy. He hit left-arm spinner Fabian Allen for the first six of the innings and then two fours off Nathan Ellis, but his timing was not right on Bishnoi’s googly.

Deepak Hooda made no mistake in taking a waving catch in the air at long on. After Iyer completed his second half-century of IPL off 39 balls, Allen’s delivery was sent to deep midwicket for six runs to take the team’s score to triple digits. He then hit two spectacular boundaries on Ellis, which was a wonderful combination of strength and skill. But in an attempt to sweep the slog on Bishnoi’s googly, he gave an easy catch. Captain Eoin Morgan (2)’s poor form continued. Rana took a catch at the boundary line after hitting sixes on Ellis and Arshdeep. Arshdeep bowled Dinesh Karthik (11) off the last ball.
